If you have the correct setttings for your iol account you should be able to download your mail no problem. Did you install the Eircom settings from a cd by any chance that might have overwritten your old settings?

Check the account settings in outlook express (should be under Tools) and see if the email settings are still there. IF not you will need to set up your account again for iol. You can usually access any account if you have the correct settings. As one of the posters says below you do not even need to use an eircom account at all you can continue to use your old one as long as its set up properly.

I dont know which IOL set up you had but all the necessary settings seem to be hereIOL email settings

The only thing to be careful of is that in the smtp box you put mail1.eircom.net. If you dont do that you will have problems with sending emails.

the eircom settings are here in case you need them

Just forget about the Eircom mail account.

You just need to configure your iol mail settings to continue using the incoming iol mail server, and reconfigure your outgoing server with the Eircom SMTP server.

    outgoing mail server: mail1.eircom.net
    incoming mail server: pop.iol.ie

I have an 'user@iol.ie' email account and on eircom broadband. It works fine with those settings
