Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    UNITED STILL ON JOAQUIN TRAIL

Yet another midfielder. Are utd going to switch to a 0-10-0 formation or something. Looks like a good player, but as I have already voiced in other forums, I'm not convinced by Spanish players, playing in the premiership. I'll use Reyes as a guide I guess

The Link isn,t working for me at the moment but this speculation has been ongoing for a few months now. Joaquin is highly rated right sided attacking midfielder and if he went to united would replace beckham who i fell has not been replaced properly yet.

I think most Foreign players find the pace and physical aspects of the premiership difficult to adjust to and it usually takes a season or two for them to show their full potential with the odd notable exception.

I'm quite sceptical about Spaniards playing abroad myself. In recent years none of them have performed and some top players like Mendieta, Javi Moreno and Ivan De La Pena have become very very average. Off the top of my head I can't think of a current Spanish player doing well abroad.

I think Utd missed a good chance at getting a right winger by not snapping up Ricardo Quaresma. Its even more surprising when you consider they have a link with sporting lisbon. Perhaps they didn't want to take both Ronaldo and Quaresma but both can operate on either wing so they could play together or alternate in a squad rotation system.

    Joaquin is a savage player.

it's more like they can't adjust to just how easily the ball is given away. they're too good for the bollox that is the premiership.
dunphy was on the right track about defences there.
e.g. new signing for blackburn, from huddersfield, scores on his debut. defoe also scores.

isn't Ivan Campo spanish? he's doing rather well.

Joaquin is a great player. let's hope he doesn't bollox his future by going to utd.

    Aliminator, Dunphy is an eejit.
The style of play is different.
The slower paced continental games lend themselves more easily to better defences.

Campo is doing ok yeah but hes hardly a world beater? Could u see him getting into the Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal side I doubt it? And its a major step backwards going from Real to Bolton

agreed Joaquin is a great player with excellent potential but he just won't go to manchester, too settled in spain (imo)
