    Am I right in saying that you can only get like 16 colours in 98 and loads more when you are using win 2k?

    just curiuos as I am a beginner here, thanks, paddy

    No. You will get 16 colours with both OSs unless you have the video drivers (a collection of files that tell Windows how to use your video card) for your card.

    The best way to get these is either from the CD provided with your video card, or alternatively go online (difficult these days with 16 colours!) to the website of the manufacturer of your card and get the latest ones there.
