If this belongs in the ireland offline section, please feel free to move.

There were lightening storms here in the west last sunday week - knocked out an isdn line (but not the regular phone line in the building next to it). Reported it to biddy on the Monday - they did call out within 48 hours (for ten minutes) but the line remains unrepaired. A complaint went in to Comreg and local TD contacted on day four - and they are actively trying to fix the line now - albeit without success.

    Q. Is one expected to pay line rental on a line that has been unavailable for a third of the month? Anyone know whether theres a standard with regard to this?

ps. the line in question has had problems all along as detailed in my previous thread here.

no, you are entitled to a refund after 48 hours. On their website follow the links

Home : Customer Services : Log Your Complaint : Our Code Of Practice

"Repair - under the terms of our customer service guarantee it is our aim to clear all faults within 2 working days, if we fail to meet this deadline you can claim the equivalent of two months line rental. "

in Inverin west of Galway they still had no exchange by Sunday (2 days ago) , the building was toasted by the lightning in that storm.

Eircom are also critically short of highspeed boxes....thats the probable reason you are still down.

Thanks for the clarification muck. They fixed it as of 6pm this evening - plenty of overtime for the lads - as ive never known them to work past 4.30pm They replaced the box yesterday but that didnt make any difference. Counted 5 €ircon vans between the house and exchange (4 miles) this afternoon so the line must be a patchwork..
