    hey.
    what i'm trying to do is network my laptop (p4 2.4 256mb) with my desktop pc 9p3 500 64mb) usiing the 2 network card's.

    all the network will be used for will be file transfer and game's


    the desktop run's window's 98 and the laptop run's xp.


    what should i do. i have installed the newtork card on the desktop and the laptop came with a network card.... jsut wondering what to do

    You'll need to get yourself a length of crossover (or crossed) network cable, and you can connect one pc directly to the other using that :)
