I'm in a music-low at the moment, and I'm looking for a new band to discover.

    Tops have to be:
    Queen,
    Muse,
    Jim Steinman,
    Manics,
    Placebo,
    Radiohead (earlier stuff)
    RATM,
    Beach Boys,
    Tori Amos.

I recently discovered Dream Theatre, and have listened to them to death. I love Muse's mix of interesting rock with hints a Queen-style of music in there, and especially Matt's piano work.

Can anybody suggest a band to me on this info? I'm a piano player, so more of that please, if possible :)

    Cheers,
    S.

if you like piano try getting some of the music from final fantasy it's really good.

Porcupine Tree and Anathema are two bands I'd really reconmend. Closer to the progressive rock side of thing, but some of Anathema's earlier stuff is a lot more metal, so if you're not into heavy stuff, try get the more recent albums like Eternity, Alternative 4, and the last one A Natural Disaster.

Should be right up your street.

A good band to listen to is Evergrey...dark progressive metal with a great keyboardist and one of the best vocalists out there in Thomus Englund (although he is one ugly mofo, my friend says he looks like Brain out of Pinky And The Brain)

Id recommend Sigur Ros if Einsturzende hadnt already beaten me to it :D

Apart from them, and this goes for everyone who has ears and isnt deaf, you should listen to Failure. Try looking for Small crimes by failure. best. song. ever.
And also Joy Division. (Look for a song called twenty four hours)

They had to change their name to HER only in the Us because of another band with the same name.

    Some more bands-
    System of a down
    Twinkle toes
    and Led Zepplin
