Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Upgrading shortly, so need to sell my sweet motor. Asking price €4995, but reasonable offers accepted. Reason for sale is upgrading to either newer model or 7 series :)

I'm based in Lucan, if you are interested and want to view it or take a testdrive (if you are insured to to so), please pm me

    BMW 530i

Had car checked out by the Gardai. It has never been in any accident. It has been broken into once (many years ago) when the window was smashed and the original Pioneer Stereo/CD was stolen

    NCT 2005

Taxed till end July 2004 (tax worth almost €500)

94D reg - original Irish car. First owner was the ambassador of Finland to Ireland

    5 speed Automatic
    V8 engine, 32 valve

    Sterling silver metallic

    Sony 10 CD changer

    Electric windows, mirrors (heated), sunroof

4 Headrests, back middle arm rest, front arm rests (*2)

Remote central locking / alarm / immobiliser
83k genuine miles, of which 30k by myself since January 2001

Service history, complete since January 2001 serviced every 8k miles / 9 months approximately

Silky smooth very quiet executive performance saloon with surprisingly low insurance (20% lower than '96 BMW 523). Was told by my broker that the car is classified in a lower insurance category than the current (just replaced) 5 series 523 for some unknown reason. I pay about €1000 currently fully comprehensive which is coming down at renewal date in April

1 fault: there is a hole somewhere in the engine that leeks engine oil. My trusted family owned garage assessed it and told me it was probably easy to fix, but the engine needed to be lifted out to do this. At the time they reckoned that to just lift the engine out and put it back in would set me back about £200. The repair would cost an estimated £300

I had this assessed a few months after a full service from BMW in Milltown where the issue went unnoticed. The car has passed two NCT's without this being an issue afterwards. I never bothered getting this fixed and just top up the oil with a liter when the message comes up on the screen stating the engine oil is low (about once a month). Absolutely no damage is done to the car if the oil minimum level is adhered to

Anyone interested? Sorry if I should have posted this in the for sale forum - just reckoned there would not be any interest there

    Mike.

Due to our corrupt bastards insurance companies that screw us for every penny because of the size of our miniscule engines

For god sake in spain or amierica it is not unusual for an 18 year old to be driving a bmw 540i...

Over here we must drive tin can soap boxes with the equivilent power of a hair dryer in the vain attempt of thinking that we are safer in smaller cars.

tbh i would prefer to crash in a 540i than a 1.0L micra.

    /end rant.

Oh and by the way.. That is one super car... An engineering trophy... If we lived in america I'd buy it off you in a flash.

LOL love the dead cows myself. You sure about manual though? This was my first automatic and I don't intend to go manual again. Good luck with your search Killian

BTW might join up with your club. I'm just after buying my second BMW
