go me a shuttle sb75g2, and it has onboard sound.
it SUCKS ASS! it pops and crackles all over the shop.
gonna update the sound drivers now,
but just in case, i had a look on komplett for prices for PCI sound cards.
the cheapest one is only €9.90!
    "Sunsway/ST Lab Sound Card PCI 6-channel C-Media 8738LX chip"
    anyone got this?
not really to too finiky about sound, just need to get rid of cracklyness.
NOT gonna spend big bucks on an audigy 2.

advice on a good option please :)
    one above?

    dave

well yeah, installing the latest drivers would be the obvious thing to try...

or try using dxdiag (start/run & type in dxdiag), switching to the sound 1 tab, and messing about with the hardware acceleration level.
or making sure that your drives are running in dma mode...

dma doesn't matter on opticals, i don't play CDs, only mp3s.
    updating drivers tonight.
