Has anyone experience of buying prescription drugs on line to bypass this pharmaceutical rip off here in Ireland ?

    There's a site based in Canada www.my-drugs.ca.

Prices seem to be about half the Irish cost although you need to order in volume because there's a high $25 postage charge

Is it legal to import pharmaceutical drugs into the country for personal use?

I presume it is illegal to get prescription ones if you have no prescription. But I would have thought you should be able to get them somehow if you did have a prescription.

My mate recently had some seized and got a letter. Also the letter gave the incorrect drug as being seized. He does get this drug on prescription legitamately over here.

Another mate gets a shampoo in the chemist for €25 and I have seen the same one for €9 online. I am not sure if it is prescription, he says it is but it is possibly just ordered in specially by the chemist.

Is there any site that will list all prescription drugs in Ireland?

This here says it is illegal, but doesnt specifically say it is illegal even if you have a prescription

    That's a good question.

A friend of mine ordered some 'enhancement' tablets, apparently proven to work :p, and got a registered letter from either the IPB or the IMB (can't recall) asking him for reasons for him seeking the medication and to respond otherwise it would be confiscated. The medication is not on sale in this country. I don't know if everything that is labeled 'medical' is checked or whether it was a random spot-check performed by customs. Canada was the origin of the tablets.

Needless to say, the alias name he used has made him a relived man.

My IT lecturer told me about a site based in Canada that will let you email the prescription and they will send you the drugs. Obviously there will be a time issue in postage so it's only suitable for longterm prescriptions but it is perfectly legal I'm sure.....correct me if I'm wrong

Isn't that the Canadian drug site thats responsible for half the viagra spam you get in your emails? I'd be damned if I gave them a cent of my money

depends on the medicine in question. If they are a controled substance you need a licence. Simply, if you would need to buy that particular drug in a chemist, with a prescription then you can not import it even for personal use and with a prescription. Cant be sure of the quality either so looks like the pharmacy cartels have a win win situation.
