Has anyone claimed tax back from Australia recently (ie last year or so)?
Can it be done without going through the likes of taxback.com?

I know it's possible and easy to claim your superannuation back
Is there a similar process set up to claim your tax back?

    cheers,

    Bob

    Copied from Taxback.com
    Australia: Superannuation and Tax refund

When you work in Australia Income Tax is deducted from your wages. Superannuation payments are also contributed by your employer on your behalf. If you worked in Australia, you may be able to claim a refund of both of these types of payments.

Please note: if you were a working holiday visa holder, you are entitled to a refund of Superannuation but it is not currently possible to claim an income tax refund. However, we are presently in discussions with the Australian Tax Office and hope to be able to obtain income tax refunds for working holiday visa holders shortly.

Apply now for both types of refunds; we will reclaim your Superannuation for you right away and will keep you updated about the status of your income tax refund claim.

Note: If you worked in the Australia at any time since 1999, it is still possible to claim a refund.

Hope that helps. Never been to australia but would love to go.
