    Hi All,
Just got a HP Jornada 928 wda. I am Trying to get it set up for the net via GPRS.
She runs Pocket pc 2002 phone edition.
I am trying to connect via O2 speakeasy.
Have spoke to o2 customer care who dont support the device this seems to make them a touch lost on the settings.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks
    Mark...........

hi - for 'full internet' access you need to make sure you are set up for pre-pay internet GPRS access - the pp.internet on O2

you can also use their dial-up ISP (although you'll only get around 9kbps connection speed) - but at least is is an 086 - 086 (on network) call

alternatively you can use WAP when setup up for pre-pay WAP GPRS access - the pp.wap.o2.ie

calling 1740 should get you enabled for these services if not already set-up on the network

bear in mind Speakeasy GPRS and dial-up is pretty expensive...

setting up the device should be the same as the original XDA, as it also ran the Pocket PC Phone Edition 2002 - best to make sure you are enabled for the data services first though... if you are set-up i'll post up the XDA settings which should hopefully get you up and running...

is there a WAP / MMS client installed by default on the device?

If you could post the relevant Xda settings it would be great. I have tried to set it up using the xda settings on the o2 website but i seem to be missing something.
i am trying to avoid Wap as i want to be able to use Internet explorer and get my mail via pop3

    Start, Settings
    Connections Tab (at bottom)
    Connections Icon

If not already configured set up a mobile (locationless) dial config
Tap: Dialing Locations Tab (at bottom)
    Tap: New...
    Type in: Mobile
    Clear Area code box
    Clear Country code box
    Tap: Dialing Patterns...
Leave only a G in each text box
    Tap: OK (at top)

    Now create the GPRS configuration:
    Tap: Connections Tab (At bottom)
    Tap: Modify... (under Internet Settings)
    Tap: New...
Type: O2 PP ISP GPRS (or any unique label for connection)
    Select Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
    Baud rate: 57600

    Tap: Advanced... button
    Tap: Name Servers Tab
    Select: "Use specific server address"
    DNS: 62.40.32.33
    Alt DNS: 62.40.32.34
Tap: OK in top right corner

    Tap: Next button
    Access point name: pp.internet
    Tap: Finish

You are brought back to the connection list. Try the connection by:

Tap and Hold: the O2 PP ISP GPRS (or label you used for connection)
    Tap: Connect

    Enter the username and password
    User name: gprs
    Password: gprs
Check the Save Password box if you wish.

O2 GPRS is down at the moment in my location (since last night for pre-pay and bill pay) so check if you have GPRS coverage first.

Again, you have to be enabled for access to the pp.internet by O2 before you can connect to it.

still no joy have all those settings in as per previous post.
It makes an attempt but it seems to then get rejected. the jornada beeps flashes its blue led and disconnects.
I checked with O2 to see if it was set for internet and it is.
    Any more ideas??
    hanks Mark...

what exactly does the error message say?

make sure that O2 have not just set you up on WAP - make sure to quote the pp.internet access point name to the support person when calling 1740 - just to make sure...

it very helpfully says Unknown Error.

    will ask again.

just to make sure you are ringing 1740 internet/wap support (not regular customer care)

i'll post up their dial-up ISP (although you'll only get 9.6k) - but at least you get an on-network rate

if you've been emailing make sure you are emailing support AT o2.ie not just customer.care AT o2.ie

for a Dial-Up GSM connection try this:

    Start, Settings
    Connections Tab (at bottom)
    Connections Icon

Making sure you are still using the 'Mobile' Dialling Location as described above

    Now create the GSM configuration:
    Tap: Connections Tab (At bottom)
    Tap: Modify... (under Internet Settings)
    Tap: New...
Type: O2 ISP GSM (or any unique label for connection)
    Select Modem: Cellular Line
    Baud rate: 14400

    Tap: Next button
    Country code: (leave blank)
    Area code: (leave blank)
    Phone number: +353866066020
    Tap: Finish

You are brought back to the connection list. Try the connection by:

Tap and Hold: the O2 ISP GSM (or label you used for connection)
    Tap: Connect

Enter the username and password (exactly as written)
    User name: register@o2.ie
    Password: guest
Check the Save Password box if you wish.

Try Pocket Internet Explorer, e.g. http://www.pdaportal.us or a pop email account.

glad to hear you got sorted out in the end - make sure to watch your GPRS usage, e.g. set email for headers only (or plus a KB or so of the mail if you require) - with a GPRS enabled device like that you can eat a lot of KB quickly and they any cheap on pre-pay - but you'll notice that quick enough if topping up is happening more often!
