    Hi!

I want to buy a headphone and an adapter from an American website

I was just wondering if I'll have to pay VAT, customs and excise?

or where to find out about that information?

    Thanks!

21% VAT, about 2-4% excise and likely a handling charge (about €20, imposed by the courier) for collection of the taxes.

If possible arrange for the seller to have all these paid in advance.

sorry for the dumb question but

"If possible arrange for the seller to have all these paid in advance."

    what's the advantage in that?

It means you don't have to pay GLS a handling fee.

BTW - You can avoid the tax if you get the sender to declare it as a gift ... it depends on nature of the operation and the willingness of the sender !

nah the seller isn't willing even to allow me to pre pay the VAT and excise :(

will probably have to pay it here

Now I've got a new question, which currecncy do they base the VAT and excise on?

for example, something costs 200$ and in euros it is 164, will i have to pay 200's 21% or 164's 21%?

    Eh, $200 @ 21% = €164 @ 21%

    You will pay in euros.

    great!

final question, the person that will delivery the product, will be the one who will collect the tax right?

if the product won't be delivered by a courier, do i have to go somewhere and pay or wait for someone to come?
