Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lee Trundle should be called up to the irish team. I know he only plays in the third division but he is the best player in it by far! Some of the tricks he pulls off are class and we need a striker to partner robbie keane so why give him a try. He has scored lots of goals this year and set loads two and that is the type player Ireland need. Bring on Lee Trundle!!!!!

He is a division 3 player but has the ability to play in the prem. But until he moves up a few divisions he shouldn't get a call up.

I think Trundle is severely overrated. Just because he is a cup hero along with Macken we are all screaming and shouting to get him in the squad. Like eirebhoy said, he's a Division 3 player... We may as well call up Glen Crowe again...

If he was in his early 20's I'd say he's potential but i think his 26 or 27,
and not many players have ever made the jump form the 3rd Division to Premiership.

But he was born in England, says he's always supporetd Ireland over England as a kid, like Gary Breen, and he's an Evertonian :)
I'd give him a chance for that!

He will need to get himself a place in at least a first division team to be in with a chance. If he stays in Division 3 he may as well look for a link for Northern Ireland in order to play at international level

Trundle is being followed by several D1 teams (Millwall, Preston, Crewe, derby and Sheffield UTD have all scouted him). And portsmouth have also scouted him and Richie Foran, Portsmouth have even gone as far to enquire to Carlisle about foran.
    So that's 2 potential Strikers from D3.

And to those who said "we may as well call up Crowe".

D3 England (and I hate to admit it) is far more competitive than The irish prem, and thats just fact.
Glen crowe wasn't good enough for any of the english Divisions, and he scores at will in ireland, thats shows the level of football in ireland at the moment.

He only turned pro at 23 and said he never really bothered trying to get the best out of himself until recently. He walked rings around defenders in the Wesh league and only when He copped on and started getting fit, eating the right food, etc. that he was found. He may not have much potential but he doesn't need it, he is excellent already. If John Stead can move from division 3 to the prem and score in his first two matches for Blackburn, I'm sure trundle (who would be regarded as the best player in div.3 and probably div.2) could do it. The gap between div.3 and prem isn't as big as people think.

He has links in N.Ireland but said he would only play for the Republic. If Kerr ever gets around to playing B international, he deserves a chance.

He could actually play for wales as well because of the residence rule.

again as eirebhoy said he's always had his heart set on Ireland and wouldn't be interested in playing for any of the other countries even if the call up never comes.

Gotta respect the man for that.

the things he does with the ball on the pitch is impreesive and if D1 teams are interested who knows how he would play on the international stage. there would be no harm in giving him a go for a friendly

That is just it... Glen Crowe does it week in week out for Bohemians too. And tbh, I wouldn't rate the 3rd division much better than the EL.

he plays in the third division

ireland should be looking to field 11 players who play premiership standard football on a regular basis and nothing less

I saw your post but I don't agree with it.

He's got talent, I'll give him that. He's got all the slicks. :D

Whether he can cut it at premiership level, never mind international level, is a big question. But what's the harm in giving the guy a chance in a friendly??

He can take David Connolly's squad place any day.

And what about Marlon King at Forest? Can't he play for Ireland as well? I know he's an ex-con but he has scored goals at Div 1 level and must be worth a look at.

there are plenty of forwards out there that should be given the chance... just because he scores in Division 3 - he should get a call up?? ach come on...

What about the other Irish players* in
    Division 3
Ben Burgress (Hull City) 32 Apps - 12 goals
    Barry Conlon (Darlingtion 27 Apps - 10goals

    Division 2
Paul Heffernan (Notts County) 20 Apps - 16 goals
Micky Evans (Plymouth) 24 Apps - 10 goals

    Division 1
    Graham Barrett (Coventry)16 Apps - 3 goals
Alan Lee (Cardiff) 4 Apps - 3 goals

    Scottish Premier League
Noel Hunt (Dunfermline) 3 Apps - 2 goals

If anyone should get a call up in the lower divisions it should be Paul Heffernan

    *sub Apps NOT included

I've been keeping an eye on him but never actually got the chance to see him play. Also, Kerr has been to see him and he scored on the day. He's only 5ft 10 so probably wouldn't be any better partnering Keane than Connolly. Keane NEEDS to play with a tall player who can head a ball and I don't think Heff would fit the bill.
