Telephone wiring colour convention.

What is the colour convention for telephone appliance wiring, i.e., what are the correct colours for the pair of wires carrying the signal to the phone? Note, I'm not talking about the external pairs, just the internal wiring. What are the colour pairs used in standard telephone equipment?
