    ASK DICE?

Question: Pagliacci asks if there is someone who can help him with the Mod Development Toolkit...and will there be an MDT for Battlefield Vietnam?
Answer: Look no further than the Forums at PlanetBattlefield. In the next few days a new forum will appear there called Ask Rex. Rex, as some of you might already know, is THE tools guru for Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam. He also worked on most of the tools in the current MDT. He'll field any of your MDT-related questions. And yes, the MDT 2.0 is updated and upgraded with some great additions for BFV. Watch the community update in the next few weeks for more information.

Question: Kevin asks if we can explain in more detail what the Vehicle Importer does in Mod Development Toolkit for BFV?
Answer: The MDT 2.0 will do the following for both vehicles AND static objects:
    • Import vehicles and static objects for BF1942 or Battlefield Vietnam
    • It will import all models and textures
    • Allow you to reposition parts and save changes back to your mod without editing or extracting any files

Question: From James, "...will BCV (Battlecraft Craft Vietnam, the map editor, be included with the game) include features to add/remove files in the .rfa archive?"
Answer: Yes, it will. You will be able to add/remove content in the level archive using the Add File to Archive function and remove in the Archive Manager function.

Question: Jason asks how does Battlefield Vietnam encourage teamplay?
Answer: The two main additions to teamplay in BFV are in how Control Points are captured and vehicles. First, Control Points, the more teammates you have in range of a CP, the faster you will be able to capture it. Even more importantly, the CP won't go neutral unless you have more people in range than your opponents. No more Rambo-style blitzing of the CPs. Teamplay has been incorporated into vehicles by allowing passengers to fire their weapons. Now, it pays to stop and pick people up, as they might save your bacon in that road ambush up ahead...

Question: BrukMarat asks, "can you sprint in BFV?"
Answer: Well, each kit is unique in how it moves, for example, the Scout will turn and accelerate faster than the Assault kit. However, we don't have a sprint feature as such. And they all have the same top speed...so the Scout won't be able to totally blow the Assault guy away...except with his gun, that is...

That's it for this week. Send more of your questions for DICE to BFHQ@ea.com. Thanks to everyone at DICE, EA, Trauma and Red Monkey for their help in responding.
