PC clogged up

My PC is nearly always at 100% CPU.
I als have 29 processes running im wondering how can i put the processes dow nto the bear minimum..

I have Adaware, Spywareblaster n Spybot ,.

What processes are using the CPU? It's nearly always just one of them hogging the system

It's getting late and i'm off to bed, but for starters you can disable any or all of the programs in start up with no ill effects.

Run --> Type MSConfig --> StartUp

Obviously if there are programs you recognise as being essential at start up then by all means leave them in. But you can untick everything else and the system will boot just fine.

I'm going to assume you have XP, you haven't said one way or the other.

The best way to cut down on system hogging, is to go through the services you have running and disable anything unnecessary. You'll find service guides in google. Tweaktown have a pretty comprehensive guide, two guides in fact. You can find the first one here.

I'm sure there'll be more suggestions.

id suggest running a fully updated,full virus scan as a lot of them shareware programs(adware etc) are a good source of viruses

Ad aware doesnt contain viruses

This may be any of the items above but there is an error in some cases when SP1 is installed on XP it causes the cpu to run @ 100%,

I cant remember how to get rid of I had it myself, I'll get back to yea

Try these aswell

a) Once your system is up and running ,go to Start --> run --> msconfig and dictate the startup programs
Also go to registry and check these entries

hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and find out what process is using up all the cpu time. Then just end it and see what happens.

If its explorer.exe, end it, and then restart it by going to File>New Task and browsing to your windows directory and selecting explorer.exe
