I have seen far better gigs than Metallica last year in the RDS, but I'm going to see them again this year. Lets just hope they pick a good setlist.

Looking forward to the gig.I'd say there'll be a lot more St Anger stuff this time around though.

Were they better than Maiden? If so, I'll be damn happy. I've already got a ticket, but I want to know where to set my sights...

I wasn't at Maiden, but a few of my friends said that they didn't touch Maiden's performance. Even after all the flag waving.

That's funny 'cause all of the hardcore maiden fans that I know (and we're talking about stretching back to seeing them years and years ago) thought that the maiden performance was so-so and not their mae-west. First time I saw them and thought they were fairly amazing.

But it's horses for courses. Maiden and Metallica put on two different stage-shows. Maiden put on the elaborate, theatrical show. And Metallica put on the raw agressive energy show. I must say that the outdoor venue *REALLY* suited Metallica last year - 3rd time I've seen them and I was well impressed with last year's show.

They didn't say it was the best show they've ever seen. They said Metallica's show didn't touch Maiden's show.

Yeah, I know what you mean, they put on two totally different shows. I'm just saying what my friends said.

Does anyone know if Lostprophets are supporting, ? i`m being told they are.
I pretty much hate Metallica, not a big fan of Slipknot either.
60 euros a big price to see lostprophets ! compared to the last times 13 euro!

I heard a rumour that Slipknot pulled out. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

I'd heard that Machine Head were supporting, from a fairly reliable source (works for ticketma$ter). But then he told me last year that SOAD were supporting Metallica, so maybe he aint so reliable.

LostProphets, Slipknot, Metallica, €65, bit steep me thinks.

MachineHead are playing Belfast in June, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they support Metallica...

Only ever heard one of their tracks though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 305 ✭✭stevemac

when are the tickets on sale?

    where can we get them?

ticket master don't have them listed yet.

machine head are playing at the donington festival on the 6th june. No dates after that. Would they wait around after that to play in dublin with metallica?
Metallica playing at that festival as well are they?

Hah... You'd never know, In Flames supported Metallica last year in Spain didn't they?? Then again, that was Spain. This is Ireland. :(

Dunno what date but I've been told that Machinehead will be playing in the Mandella Hall in Belfast, it hasn't been officially announced, but when it is it'll be listed on www.qubsu-ents.com and tickets will be available from the Queens Students Union, Virgin, and www.wegottickets.com

    *** update ***

Concert is almost certainly going to be June 2nd, tickets will probably be £15.

all in fairness i seen metaliica last year and it was v.good but u c
metallica once u dont need to see them again der jst one of those bands

i also seen d maiden concert it was my 1st time seeing them and i have 2
say it to was v.good but it as thou bruce dickinsons voice is gone 2 ****.
he talks most of the songs rather than sing them, dnt get me wrong still a good concert

but d best gig ive ever seen was NAPALM DEATH in lst december in d village
and they pulled d place apart even thou 1 of der guitaists was missin

but who's offically suporting other than slipknot

oh and if i have lose pocket change when it comes 2d gig il c u der!

I dunno, I'd say Dickinson's voice is still in great shape, he sung his way though pretty much everything.

Are there still standing tickets left? I'd have expected that for Metallica all the standing room would be long gone...

seems to be a lot of people here who are downing the concert. i think it'll be great. even if you don't like slipknot, you have to say it's a massive improvement on linkin park, plus the pit should be good.

and while i like lostprophets, their live show isn't their strongest point so they'll be a little lost next to slipknot and metallica. machine head would be awesome though..
