    Viktor,

Anyone know who owns the large yellow metal portacabin that's been plonked in the middle of the in-bound cycle track at Dollymount? It has no identification that I can see.

Situation at the Clontarf pumping station needs examining, since they 'improved' the cycle track, cars now park their protruding rears on the cycle track which also has a dangerous double 90 degree turn that was'nt there before the 'improvements'.

The whole track is not marked or signed in accordance with DTO standards, but maybe the City Council is has its own standards?

    I don't know!

Do you have any (digital) pictures or exact locations? I'll try to pass it on to an engineer.

This shot is of the metal cabin that's obstructing the in-bound cycle track, just after the wooden bridge at Dollymount. AFAIK this is an offence under the Road Traffic Acts. Also, in breach of DCC regulations as the name of the contractor is not displayed.

Viktor, this is a shot of the 'improved' cycle track near the Clontarf pumping station.

The main improvement seems to be making more room for car parking by allowing them to use part of the cycle track.

Unfortunately, this forces cyclists to cross over into the path of oncoming traffic , which has been forced to ride near the centre of the track due to the dangerous bends included in the design.

Note that the track has neither edge nor centre-line markings required by the DTO. I'm not sure if the DCC has sign-off on the work of the contractors yet?

Use of cycle tracks is obligatory for cyclists.

    Viktor,

This is the in-bound cycle track at Burgh Quay. It was built by DCC in response to concerns raised after a fatal accident nearby. It is not in accordance with DTO standards as the provision of car-parking spaces on the inside of cycle tracks, without a safety gap, is not permitted by the DTO.

In this case, the car-parking has a space just big enough for a 'Smart' car, left over & this massive estate has crammed himself into it & blocked the cycle track & part of the road. Photo taken at 9:30, no sign of any clamping.

    This is a regular occurrance.

Use of cycle tracks is obligatory for cyclists.

The yellow portacabin has disappeared.....but a white car has took over from the blue one that was completely blocking the inbound cycle track at Burgh Quay.

The track at Burgh Quay was blocked again today, different car, same effect.

Under laws passed without consultation or debate, cyclists are obliged by law to use the cycle track in the picture:

"(3) (a) Subject to paragraph (b), a pedal cycle must be driven on a cycle track where one is provided.

    (b) Paragraph (a) shall not apply in the case of a cycle track on the right-hand edge of which traffic sign number RRM 023 has been provided
    ....
(iii) where a vehicle is parked in the cycle track for the purpose of loading or unloading."

In this case, the car was parked by someone who was not loading or unloading, so what should the cyclist do?:

a: Move into the path of overtaking traffic?

b: Cycle under or over the car?

c: Wait for as long as it takes to for the lane to be clear of obstruction?
