Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FIFA are appearently announcing the top 100 today at http://www.the-100.com/. the top five (including Roy Keane) were announced a few weeks ago. Anyone got any inside scoup on the who the other 95 are, I got an Irish Times text alert naming the former Man City players in the top 100, so the list must be out already !!

BTW Marc Vivian Foe was one of the city players, and not to speak ill of the dead but isn't it called greatest living players ... whats the criteria ?

No Liam Brady or Paul McGrath? The two best Irish player ever and they doesn't even get a look in?

Pele talks an awful ammount of arse at times, and should stick to selling viagra.

I am bewildered as to how Diouf can get in and Scholes can't, Rivaldo can and Giggs can't. I am not a United fan but I would prefer both the man u players over the others.

Johnny Giles was omitted too, lynchpin of the all conquering Leeds teams of yore.

I often wonder at what stage Pele became senile.

All lists like this cause controversy. They're always other people tha tshould have been included and others that are in it that shouldn't.

But how he can place Diouf ahead of some of his 1970 World Cup Brazilian team mates is beyond me.

I am a Pool fan and cannot believe this inclusion. Needless to say I can't understand the omission of Ian Rush.

Apparently Pele was abused in Brazil because he left out Jairzinho and Gerson.

The latter made an appearance on tele just to rip up Pele's list!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 147 ✭✭JippoKelly

I wouldn't blame them tbh. I know Pele has always been a bit of a nut bar but come on! Jairzinho is one of the all-time great players in his own right.

Understandably, El-Hadji Diouf is causing most consternation, but the fact that Veron, Pires, Desailly, Kluivert and Okocha are there too makes me think that this "list" is pandering to some strong & shadowy marketing forces.

Jimmy Grealish and Paddy Roche might not have sold many t-shirts, but . . . .

    Tony Grealish, even :D
