Play pc games on your pc.

Play console games on your pc with emulators.

Best of both worlds don't u think! :D

I don't think there are any emulators for modern consoles...

Unless you have to play it on your 15 year old 19 inch TV instead of the lovey 32 inch....bastards

I bought a gamecube and have never looked back. Class machine with a load of class games plus it was cheap.

Those who say PCs are better than consoles or vice-versa are ignorant to the differences and need to be wake up to the realities that each platform has its strengths and weaknesses.

i've been tempted to get a console for a while now since my last one with out of buisness (dreamcast) course my main mind maker are SEGA games which i love and i really want the new sonic...course its best on gamecube...but u get more choice on ps2...so i am lost and confused...a sad little puppy

I'd recommend a GameCube over a PS2 - sure you may have a wider choice of PS2 games, but there are some Nintendo exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart etc.

The only PS2 exclusive I think worth getting is the GTA series, but they comes out on the PC eventually.

The major important releases usually come out on all consoles and PC, while some exclusives make their way to the individual console and then to the PC (a la Halo).

[stupid point] The GC controller is nicer than the PS2's anyway :D [/stupid point]

yeah well you guys all have your fancy ps3's and game boxes and x cubes, but i am plenty happy with the farly superior graphics of my commodore 64. LAst night I overclocked it and got almost 3.56fps on the new ASCII game

I'd say xbox. The bigger processor is beginning to tell in ti now. I've seen in a few articles that developers are running into issues with making games for the PS2 now. I think id were quoted as saying that it would be too problematic to port Doom 3 to the PS2. Its only a small thing but it could get bigger. Most games come out now for all consoles anyways. I don't get the idea of having a pc for games. Fair enough if you already have one but if given the choice of getting a console or a pc for games, then a console would win out every time. Upgrading pcs is as expensive as buying a console.

I dont know if it would be worthwhile. What do you think?
Theres a slightly smaller chance of downloading child porn to a ps2 than on a pc.. :D

    Sorry, couldnt resist it.

About GT3,it has no damage modeling or tyre wear modeling.

Yes it does its very clever too Cold tires are blue normal are green, worn yellow, badly worn red. They even have individual wear per corner ie circuit all right hand turns left hand tires wear more than right, monster the accelarator out of corners and the rears will cook

Have u ever unlocked teh F1's in GT3? have u ever used (teh vast) Set up and Tuning options in GT? HHhhmmmm.....

    anyways
Yes get a Console PS2 or Xbox, if you can keep and udate yur PC do that to.
    >>GT3 is pure class THE racing king -on all platforms + GT4 prologue will be out this month and GT4 Sept/Oct/Nov and it WILL be ONline!!!!!!
    NFS:UG isnt bad too.
    >>PGR2 is very good online and its a tight game offline too. XBlive egdes Ps2 online as pres as well.

    Advantages to owning a console:
    (HD notwithstanding)
One fixed price that u wont need to uprgrade( Ps2s only minus points is teh HD and Network adpater)(XB is there already)PS2 /XB come in at around teh 200/220 mark, you would bearly get a Decent PC GPX card for that these days.
With PCs. you might get 3/4 years and your system will be slow/ lagging behind the tech/in need of upgrade, not able to run games without everything turned down.
Lifespan of a console u'll get @ least 5yrs non upgradable life form a console
Every new big PC game seems to need faster processors, latest Gpx card to run it at absolute Optimum.
PS2 is the biggest catalogue of game out there, Racing, Fighters, Footie games and japanese RPGs (lots of these games will never be released on PC)
Controllers are excellent input methods to everything execept FPS and Socom2 has even addressed this
With PCs their only strong point is Mouse control for FPS and Stat games
try playing a fighter/racing game with a mouse or two ppl on a keyboard and u'll be shellin out again for Wheels/Joysticks Gamepads for yur PC, standard with consoles.
Every Major big game comes to consoles first with the PC version generally much delayed if released at all.

I take back what I said about the PS2. Buy a Gamecube or if you must an xbox. At least these two aren't so cheaply made that the DVD drive will fcuk up after 2 years and cost you close to 370 yoyos to buy another chipped console.

    and i reiterate what i most probably said about the gamecube;
    best console on the market.

get yourself a new gamecube, viewtiful joe from play.com (£15!!!) and a memory card for the bones of €150:)
