What operator you are with - O2
What type of account you have: Speak Easy
Make / model of handset you are using - Handspring Treo 270

I did the GPRS update on this phone.
Rang o2 to get GPRS enabled on the account.
Rebooted the phone - little GPRS symbol appears, so far so good.

CONNECTING > SIGNING ON > INITILISING > FAIL.

Settings for GPRS are embeded in the sim, so they should be right.
But post up your setting so I can compare / and any comments or hints.

    Cheers,

for speakeasy - the full internet (i.e. for pop/imap email and full web browsing, not just WAP) you need to use pp.interent access point

have you created a new connection / network entry in Preferences?

what are the GPRS settings you mention are embedded in the SIM?

First off - look at the clock, it's 02:05 AM - goto bed you're worse than me!;)

Yeah I should have posted the settings, here they are.
Service : O2 IRL GPRS Web
    Connection : GPRS
    User Name : user
Password : -assigned- (i don't actully know it)
    APN : internet

    IP address : automatic
    Primary DNS : 62.40.32.33
    Secondary DNS : 62.40.32.34

Also I think I may have narrowed the problem down :

Error is PPP timeout / authentication problem (password incorrect etc)

    Cheers DubWireless.

the APN for SpeakEasy is pp.internet, pay-monthly/contract APN is internet or open.internet

username and password can usually be left blank, but on some devices you have to enter somethign to keep it happy, so i just enter 'gprs' for both

you have to ensure that you are set up on the network for access to the pp.internet access point (APN) - this would be checked by contacting O2 directly (on 1740)
