just saw the film, and thought it was really good, but one thing i want to ask about:

Im not sure if it was just the dvd, or my player or something, but for some reason i couldnt hear any of the people talking.. there were other sounds, like gun shots and that, but no speech. Now i know its in spanish (i think) and i wouldnt understand it, but it still took alot away from an otherwise great film.... and it made it abit harder to figure which character was saying what in some scenes where a couple of people were talking at the same time.

so anyway, was it the dvd, or is this the way the film is made? i could have sworn I saw an ad for it with sounds...

Not sure about your sound problems, sounds like you got a dud DVD. But in any case, they speak Portuguese in Rio, not Spanish.

The portugese was crystal clear for me.

My 1st response would be to say go to the sound setup on the dvd options menu and make sure its set up to stereo and not DTS or 5.1. It sounds like you were listening to the surround track and missing the centre speaker track.

    Alternatively...

My da's old DVD player (Mitsubishi) did the same thing, it might be nothing to do with the disc.
After the film starts , go to your DVD sound settings menu (stereo, 5.1, 3d etc)
and flick thru them. In his case, once you set it back to the original setting after that it worked fine. Don't ask me why!
