    hey all!
i have my laptop and desktop networked together. i am just wondering is there any way to access the floppy drive of my desktop from the command prompt in windows xp?
i have it sharing and i can see it in My Network Places but i want to do it this way as i am saving and running a java project to and from a floppy, also it would be a nice little bit of info to know!

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

just assign a drive letter to it from the other machine (for instance f drive) and just type f: in a dos box ....same as any other network share

its assigned as a: on the desktop, and when i typed in a: in dos it didnt work, can i assign it a different name on the laptop?

    thanks for the reply!

share the floppy as "floppy" ... not as "a:" ... on the other machine map \\111.111.111.111\floppy for f: (if the desktops ip was 111.etc, change it to suit your ip address)
