QW Question!

Every time i close qw, i get a black screen with a flashin cursor up the top left hand corner. this is really annoyin and i have to unplug the pc to get it goin again!. cant alt tab or anythin! any 1 have any ideas?

Nexus, to diagnose it would be useful to know:

- your graphics card name and drivers name & version
- what OS you run
- was it qwcl.exe or glqwcl.exe, and what version?

I have the same problem as you Nex,I got a new Dell with a TNT 2 on windows ME on qwcl .
If you go into #ICP.CA and speak with Pattah he will tell you how to sort it out .He told me but i havnt tried yet.As far as i know Devore has the same problem too.I have nt played quake in months because of it .

i used to have the same problem with qwcl ages ago.. gman still has that problem alsoi think

run "qwcl.exe -dibonly"
should fix it

1. I have a Geforce DDR with the lastest nvidia drivers.
2.Win ME
3.qwcl. i always use sw

said id put this here rather than a new topic, as its a similar type question.
returning to qw after an alt tab, i get my display split into 2, with whatever was on the desktop on the top and qw on the bottom half.
unplayable obviously so i quit and restart.
it also flashes violently whilst in this split screen mode
anyone know how to prevent that from happening.

Davoc, that is a problem with the way the nvidia chipset handles glquake, you will find everyone has that problem.the only way aroud it is to use zquake or something similar where the bug has been fixed.

actually its a problem with the nvidia drivers (NOT the chipset, thats why zquake and mqwcl can fix it)

if you use the same desktop res. as the res. you play quake on, you can alt tab no hassles..
try "glqwcl.exe -width 1024 -conwidth 1024 -bpp 32" , if you run windows at 1024*768 in 32bit colour

I had the same problem with my tnt2!! But i fixed it by using GLquakeworld. And i know you might say you need a 3dfx card but just delete the opengl32.dll file i think after u install gl quakeworld!!!

u know thats never happened to me maybe u should get a voodoo like mine
