For gods sake, can we have the sports forum back please?

Look at it, its pathetic. theres about 3 threads in the last 30 days. Mainly because the only subject it covers now is synchronised swimming. The other boards in the sports section are hardly brimming over either.

Sports is just another example of the problem with too many boards. I used to read sports all the time and get a nice cross section of sporting threads. Now, i just flick through the horror of soccer and ignore the other 57 sports boards because i dont have time to wait for them all to load and flick through the threads.

    Any thoughts?

I agree. Its the overall forum for everything sports related and its possibly posted to least.
Athletics, Cycling, Golf should be incorporated back in their for starters. Probably Angling, Archery and HorseRacing too. Maybe a sticky for each for the main discussion ideas and important information and so on.

I'd agree, there doesn't seem to be the traffic to justify all the sub-sport forums.

GAA seems to have a demand for its own board. even in these quiet winter months we have been kept going....

but yeah I agree the sports forum is fairly bleak

If you mean a sticky for each board that's reincorporated then please NO. I find boards with too many sticky's annoying (Work being an example).

    Otherwise I think it's a good idea.

Because you have to scroll down the page a bit?
I think that each forum that gets reincorporated back into sports should have a sticky showing the best/most informative posts, and links, and contact info of relevant associations. One sticky or several could cover it.

    Sort of.;)
If you have lots of sports using the one board and half the page is used for sticky's then people who don't read boards regularly might miss a thread that would be of interest to them because it may be on the dreaded page 2.

there are afew sports that deserve their own forum, such as GAA, soccer, maybe rugby, maybe Wrestling and maybe even martial Arts.
otherwise I think they should all be put back to the general sports forum.... some of the forums are abit to 'specialist'

Is it possible to collocate forums into one? So you could have alot of sub forums with their own threads and sections but be able to view all posts from these in 1 main forum? Argh, am I making sense?

We don't want to see Rugby getting merged back into Sport - it's more than justifying it's seperate status. There's no "maybe" about it - the board is very busy since the World Cup and Heineken Cup, Celtic League and Six Nations have all gotten interesting.

We're happy discussing a real sport without trawling through your synchronised swimming posts, and not having the soccer hooligans trolling helps too ;)

    Cheers
    Al.
