    hey just a quick question..

    upgrading quake3 from scratch can point release 1.29f be installed from a freash install of quake3 or do i have to dl all the point releases?

    Yeah afaik you can just install the patches after a fresh install..
    Why do you want 1.29f...
    1.29g is out now!!
    What is now was once only imagined.

    whats the story with the patches?? what do the majority of online servers use? I have 1.27 and 1.29g instaled and im not sure!

    most of the UK and IE serves use 1.27 while most of the american servers use 1.29. Its handy to have both installation files so you can switch between them easily by deleting pak6.pk3 and reinstalling 1.27 patch to go back to 1.27

    and if you download 1 patch, it has all the patches inside it so all you need is the latest one (except in this case where 1.27 and 1.29 are both current)
    1.27h is the only patch that does not have all the other patches included in it, because it is only an 800kb patch to fix some stuff from 1.27g

    thx killy but which version of 1.29 do the non IE and UK servers use f or g or h???
