haha, I remember, we were still in UL, the CT lads arrive down for the weekend for beer, smoke and quake, they pile in the door "WOOOO!!!", Dev waving a big lump of gange runs off into SSB's room, arrives out ten minutes later green from toking, just sits back and fades on the bed.
    hilarious.

    Nah nah, Zero doesn't roll.
Although IF he is forced to roll, expect huggies pullups.

    Just so you know,

Myself, Dev and Dre met up last night and headed over to the intended center where the lan is going (hopefully) to take place.

The place has easily enough room for 50 (maybe 60) pc's and enough for another 10/12 pc's in a side room.

The side room is big enough to cater for a sleeping/chill out area (sleeping/gym mats are there). (we will throw in the big screen in there too for people to watch)

There is nice toilet facilities with showers and a coffee shop which will be open during the morning and all day serving food and drink.

Dre had a breif meeting with center committee and they have agreed to allow beer 'n smoking. Only rule (so far) is that after 12 midnight, the doors will be locked. You may leave, but you will not be allowed back in till 9am the next morning. So call it a lockin :P

So far, its an excellent venue for the lan (im not telling you where it is yet). As we get details about costs and the likes, we'll let you know.

    ./Lan Mode On

    What MP said.

Guys, both MP and I have run a fair number of lans in our time. We both know the ins and outs of them and I'll tell you this:

I could not realistically design a better lan location. Its big, tons of power it seems, nice crash out area for people who just want to crash on the floor. close to the city centre (so easy for buses etc) and loads more.

Tons of good stuff so lets all just PRAY that Dre (who's playing a blinder for us btw) gets it all sorted and we're on.

I tell you this tho, this place has the potential to blow Quakapalooza, Dublan, FTI, Trincon and all the other lans away if we do it right.

If everyone pulls together and me and MP get into gear we'll have one killer 48 hour lan.

We'll need help but when we have more info we'll get people to take on responsibilities.

mmmm, now I kinda remember why I do this again smile.gif

    DeV.

I would imagine there will be q3, qw, CS and possibly a smattering of DOD and SC!

mmm I'm all tinlgy inside thinking of it..

Hmm, this all sounds really really spot on. I'm trying to see if theres any interest amongst the art dudes about doing a cs spoof movie (3d render it into an avi and present it at the lan) - say a 3 - 5 minute flow of sketches. Just please please don't hold the event during september for selfish personal reasons smile.gif, and erm to get time to get things together.

Err, no it wasn't - The Opera was.

There were 6 people playing Urban Terror. I'll stick to Counter Strike for that kind of game...

Note meglome's post. This makes me appreciate even more how well run the previous qp and dublan were run. Its one thing getting every thing organised, its another thing making sure they happen. Hopefully this should stand to stead with this event when we have so many experienced master crimpers and competition organisers.

i noticed that as well bunny... i thought my browser was fuxored or something because it happened after i posted smile.gif
anywya... what i wanted to say in response to your point that is now gone, is that we should invite the NI team over because they have a fairly active and organised q3 and qw community. theres a few of them who hang out in #quake.ie a lot and some of them are really good

  • Registered Users Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Jaysus I have to say after all this and stil u people forget about that little community that u pushed away and left them to fend for them selfs...... and u wonder what I speak of I mean UT u could say we could play some UT as well any way good idea smile.gif
