Guess what happened last month. I and a few others from some website, ran an event for members of that website. We payed for the venue, spent weeks sorting out various problems, and generally put lots of time and effort into the event.

We decided to charge members of this website a nominal fee to help us cover costs.
In return, we hoped we could return the favor in entertainment.

After we went through all the money we "earned" guess what, we decided to give a chunk of that to the website itself.

What does this all mean?
SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU PIECE OF DEGENERATE SHIT.

You have done nothing to contribute to boards, and yet you moan about it. Go back to troll land.

Which will make this site run faster and grow more, so that the next Boardstock might be in the Olympia and the next in The Point... etc etc.

What happens when we need a 5 server cluster to run?

What happens when we need a full time admin (as it is, admin requests are backlogging and being let slip because Ecksor and I are both lunatic-busy).

I've no doubt that sooner or later it will demand my care an attention full time. Already my boss whines like a little gurl that I spend all day working on it (which is true).
What then? What about the Moderators? How will we sustain the growth?
What about our legal exposure? how do we commercialise without losing the spirit of the site?

But really the most important question is:
Why do we do this?

Why not let some big company run it? Whats so special about it being run by a bunch of blokes you know if they are going to eventually make a living from it by "fooling" you all into clicking on our ad. Perhaps we'll sneak up behind you and scare you into typing your details into paypal... *boo*

I'll be honest with you. We make about 200 a month from boards. That server cost 4,100 inc vat. That means in 2 years time we can afford one for the backend. Unfortunately at our growth rate we'll be back in this situation inside a year.

Despite Bananaheads idiocy, we have to find a community solution to this problem in a creative fashion or we lose what we have built... we will lose to our own sheer size or worse, we lose whatever it is that makes this place our stupid, annoying, muppet-infested, chaotic, fun, crazy, unfair, tough-**** home.

Neither is acceptible.

But obviously this upgrade won't be done until Saturday and Sunday. It's a pity that Regi's sick, because you won't see the childlike glee that would spread across his face, It's not a pity because he could put the server in otherwise.

Obviously you are going to sacrifice your entire weekend so that I, and my sponging brethern, don't have to spend two days sitting in work without boards.

Seamus, Regi intends to clone Muppet over to the new server. It should only take about 30 -60 mins apparently and given that all the admins are like kids on christmas eve about this server and what it will hopefully do for us... I think we'll be putting it in just as soon as possible!!

I am a subscriber to boards. I paid in cash at a boards beer (I forget which one) and was agast to see the admin I gave it to buy beer with money that looked very similar to what I had given.

I went over to him to complain but he kicked me in the face before going into a room marked "Coke and Hookers". After I recovered I went into the room and was shocked to discover Keith Woods in a bath of cola (BEAT THAT LENNY HENRY!)

After that everything is a blur. I was told by various people including your mother that later that night DeVore climbed on top of a shed and proclaimed himself to be a Golden God before jumping into a swimming pool. Your mother didn't want to tell me what happened after that but she looked a little embarressed and kept mumbling "massive cock" so I assume there was some chickens involved.

You can find out by going into the members list and arranging it by reputation. It doesn't give you exact numbers, but it does give you them in the right order.
