    Some boards have to be modded with an iron fist. That won't make you popular with the Muppets on the board, many of whom will then decide that you're a Nazi and whinge ad nausea here. It's not a popularity contest.

    The Council, however, would like to make clear that The Elder is the head elder, and that no other elder shall be head of the council of elders.

    Why wouldn't deaf people be able to understand sarcasm exactly?

    well because what differenciates sarcasm from comment is the tone, which a deaf person couldnt hear...
    so if I say 'yeah I really like that', i could mean it or be sarcastic depending on empahsis and tone.... maybe they could pick up on facial expressions, so i could be wrong, i dunno...

    and yes, i am flirting. you decide if im being sarcastic or not... :D

    and of course there is mr_angry, theres just no board to accomodate them, they exist independently from the forums at the moment.

    i didnt say that, its just alot harder to differenciate sarcasm from comment when its in text form. You could always use italics and capitals to show empahsis, and of course you can go for the blatent sarcasm like 'yeah, im gonna do that, and then I'll be crowned king of the world forever and ever, and everyone will love me forever and ever', but the more subtle sarcasm is much harder to figure out in plain text

    I know plenty of deaf people who are quite adept at using and understanding sarcasm. I never tried to analyse how or why because I don't often get into the habit of labelling/bracketing groups of people whose experiences I'm totally ignorant about.

    I know plenty of deaf people who are quite adept at using and understanding sarcasm. I never tried to analyse how or why because I don't often get into the habit of labelling/bracketing groups of people whose experiences I'm totally ignorant about.
