Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

raven136: just happens to be the two things in life i take seriously ;)

lofto: Slane ticket prices have been nuts for the last few times i went anyway. I don't particularly mind for Slane as you're getting around 6-7 bands and ticket prices for the Point are almost as bad nowadays.

Yeh jesus ticket prices.........witness (aka bástardize its name to oxyegen) has been €60 for 1 day €100 for 2 days and €130 for camping since 2002 with no change this year..............

slane in 02 was €50 last year was €60 (but worth it) and this year nearly €70 .............. that cant be right i do commerce in college and and thats some of the worst goddam heavy inflation ive ever seen (or just blatant expoitation) for a concert.

Although i like alot of Madonna's music I am fairly disapointed she is playing Slane. It was going really good there with the rock, went in '01, U2 and RHCP, and last year was just unbelievable.... QOTSA were excellent, had the crowd going mad! I dont think i'll be making the journey this summer....any rumours for support bands yet?

Madonna herself is only a rumour at this point. Nothing is confirmed.

According to one of the papers I bought yesterday (Sunday World) Madonna is confirmed for 29th August and Bellefire are going to be supporting.

Well at least she's bringing along her hard rocking amigo's then :D
Just to confirm, 29th is a Sunday.

If she was confirmed on Sunday, it would have been at MCD.ie today, and it wasn't.

Move to block Sunday Slane concert

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

This hasn't been confirmed yet, for a couple of reasons - she's looking for silly money, they ticket prices for the UK gigs are crazy, therefore the prices here would have to be even worse - and secondly there's a clause in the agreement with the locals in Slane that concerts will not take place on a Sunday, two rather large obsticles to overcome.......

first one if the tickets are priced to high and the gig is on a Sunday then they put themselves in a possible loss making situation and that would be a nightmare (although they'd get enough to cover the costs I'm sure)

I don't know what the fuss is, if she won't do the date they want her to get someone else in, she's pretty crap anyway, imo.

Yeah, fúck Hotpress, this hasn't been confirmed yet. Madonna really isn't being cool about the whole festival proceedings, so just I say get another act and save the hassle.

Thing is, there's really noone else touring at the time that could fill the slot. The only band I can think of off the bat is Green Day as they are headlining this years Reading Festival. Since Reading Ireland seems to be given the axe, MCD should try get them to headline.
