If that's your special topic then there shouldn't be any overlap with the Weimar Republic, and unless a really specific essay about Hitler's policy in WWII comes up, you should be okay for that, too. As long as you don't use the specific information you've given in your special topic essay in another essay - you can't get marks for writing the same stuff twice, in other words - you're fine.

    You're teacher is stupid :)

If the information from your special topic is not used again in your essay you should be ok.

I assume the medical research into the holocust has absolutely nothing to do with the foreign policy or hitler, but why don't you email the chief examinier?

Actually, I'm doing Reinhard Heydrich (Deputy Comm of the SS) as my special topic but WW2 and the rise of the nazis is my best subject, they're quite likely to overlap aren't they?

how do i go about emailing him/her? i think i mention hitler once in it so i think im probably sorted for it. My special topic was actually more along the lines of how they were carried out. Pretty gruesome stuff.

do the special topic question first when your doing the exam.

Well, I did my special topic on Hitler in World War One.
It had no real reference to his foreign policy, thus I could do any other question on Hitler.

    Exam Technique btw:

    Sit down
    Do NOT open the paper!!!!!

Write out your special topic [25 mins]
    - Get it down to 25 mins, if you can't change it!!

Open the paper, do the suplementarary questions [7 mins]

    Open the paper
    Read the paper[4 mins]

Doesnt have to be 4 minutes, just make sure you decide exactly what questions you are doing.

    39 Minutes a Question:

    4 Minutes to Plan
    35 Minutes to Write
    5 Minutes a Paragraph

At the end 8 minutes to read over the whole paper

Do this and you'll get the best possible mark you're able to get

I did Heydrich as well for my ST and I had no trouble at all, I kept it very specialised wrt his own life and character. I also did my section 4 essay on something to do with the Nazis, can't remember now exactly.

If you want any tips with it gis a shout, I don't mind. Easy to answer the typical ST questions as well with Heydrich.

And yes, to reiterate another poster, do your special topic first and make sure you can get it written in max 35 minutes. It'll give you the confidence you'll badly need when you realise you've got another 15-20 pages to go. :P

edit: Oh yeah, I managed to get the first paragraph written on the answer booklet before the guy said we could turn over our papers, so look for being able to do that. Gained me about 3 mins in total I think, I finished with about 1 minute left at the end. ;D

I did IBM and the Nazis for my special topic. It had a little bit of overlapping but once the informtion isnt all available in your history book you should be fine.
