Hey,

I post the odd time on politics, but one poster Wrestlemania is CLEARLY trolling, and I pointed this out. Gandalf then banned me.

All my previous politics posts had been within the discussion.

Slightly OTT perhaps, to put it mildly?

Well, it wasn't. The guy is clearly trolling.

Gandalf says I'm banned for a week. I disagree with this, but I can live with it. :dunno:

Perhaps the problem is that you're not the politics moderator and you should leave such judgements to them or keep them to private message and post reports rather than disrupting threads with them.

I agree PM'ing the mod and letting him take action would work.

But it's a discussion forum, and I was pointing out that he is trolling! I think that would be how a normal conversation would work in real life.

So I still think the banning is too harsh, but whatever, I'll wait until next week.

That might be how your conversationswork, but calling people trolls and retarded seems a lot less constructive than having a couple of moderators keeping the peace and keeping the discussion from degenerating.

Sure, I understand they want to be strict, but banning... come on, you have to admit that's harsh!

Perhaps a little, but the point is that on a board like that you can't afford to have any leeway, it's bad enough with the ones that stay just on the right side of the line.
