Eircom Webspace and Blogging Software

Does any one know if www.blogger.com software works with the Free Eircom Webspace.

Getting a problem with

There were errors:
001 java.io.IOException: EOF while reading from control connection


Checked Help and Googled the problem, but still confused.
Unable to determine if Eircom FTP is compatible with Blogger.

If any one has it working then please post the settings.
Possibly a Router/Port Issue with my WAN Connection.

Or is their any other FREE Blogging software which works with Eircom Webspace ?

Blogging software requires server-side scripting.
Eircom free web space does not offer server-side scripting

All blogs require some server side scripting - they won't work on free space.

Are you sure that it works for the Eircom Free Webspace

Keep getting error and got another friend to check it but still problems.

as i suspected, eircom blocks external ips
xxxxxxx@server:~$ ftp homepage.eircom.net
Connected to homepage.tinet.ie.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection


Please post the ftp setting that work for you

Wow, Eircom Didnt Allow PHP Or PERL Scripts With My SUBSCRIBED DSL link, But They Allow This. Only Fair To Check It Out.

your last post seems to contradict the post you made previously

"Blogger does work with Eircom. You just enter the Eircom FTP server details in Blogger and when you hit publish the blogger website publishes the page to the Eircom server"


So does www.blogger.com work or not work with Eircom Free !!!

Did not mean it as a jibe.

Its just that your comment stated that the Blogger Software referenced would work with Eircom Free Webspace.

I spend a lot of time here trying to resolve why it would not work for me !

Just to clarify, because there was conflict posts earlier.. Blogger.com doesn't need server side scripting to work, it just needs FTP or SSH details to login to upload plain HTML, CSS and images.. it does all the work on their own servers.

Skybird, if you're desparate you could set up an ftp server on your own machine, have Blogger use that and then upload to your eircom machine yourself. Long winded approach, but it depends how much you want it , I guess.

WS-FTP: error - 530 login failure

When you try and access your FTP space you may receive an error similar to 530 login failure.

This can be due to a couple of factors:

You are not dialed into eircom net when accessing your FTP space, possibly you are connecting from work or from someone else' pc, who have an account with a different Internet company.
To update your Webpage you have to be dialed into the ISP that hosts your Webpage!
You have typed in the wrong username and password.
Access to your FTP space has not been enabled.
You have entered the incorrect host.

To answer your question Blogger will not work with errorcom webspace!
