Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
I have a friend commuting by bus from his home in Foxboro Lucan to work In Ballymount. Is there any way for him to get here without having to go through town?
Are there any Private coach firms That Link Lucan and Tallaght or any obscure Dublin bus Service that links them. We have already tried the Dublin bus website but there doesn't seem to be any direct link

    Thanks

    Try 210 | 51 | 68 | 76 | 76A | 76B |

Do you have any better directions?

There is one possible way from Lucan to Tallaght without going through town. Of the bus routes Victor listed, 25A to Chapelizod, geting off at West County. Take the 76(?) to Tallaght. My memory of taking a 76 in the Dark Ages (pre 1990) was that it seemed to go through every housing estate in Tallaght. Took an hour I think from Clondalkin to Tallaght.

There are some private bus operators that go through Lucan, but AFAIK none to Tallaght. Could try Mortons coaches

Ballymount however is a different prospect. Are there any others working in the same area living in Lucan? Would it be possible to privately hire a bus to do the run? Several companies in the IFSC have a coach from Heuston to IFSC.

<Optimistic tone>In a few months the Luas will be up and running. Bus to Hesuton and Luas to Red Cow. Don't think there is a connection closer.

I used to get the 18 from Palmerstown to the Long Mile road, and walk from there through Robinhood industrial estate. It's not too bad, but getting home that way is always worse than coming in.
You can avoid the walk by catching a 56A from Long Mile, but they are a rare bird indeed.

Ah yes; the number 18. I heard me grandda talking about that one. had always believed it was like Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. But someone who's actually been on one; that's cool!

Either way using public transport from Lucan to Ballymount is going to be a long convoluted process. At least if you go as far as town, you have bus lanes so the journey time should be shorter than 25A to Palmerstown / Chapelizod, 18 or 76 to Long Mile / Clondalkin.

    Thanks for the tips.
Might of found a way the Dualway 613 to the longmile road and then a walk or the 56A from there. The 56A sure are a rare breed and all this week they have been carrying out Passenger surveys(where you get off the bus) so with the Luas starting later in the year they might be getting rarer
    :(
