This is just an evil plot by the admins - them saying I wasn't actually banned. Not banned, just can't do ****.

Just them trying to undo some of the damage they did. "Smile and it will all look like a joke"

Tbh there are times I just never read the announcements. Somehow a newsletter just gets the ol' attention more. So good work on that. Keep it up. Jolly good. What what.

Im surprised that he got banned for this.. i was one of his 'victims' and tbh, it was kinda funny, but i certainly didnt think it was spam.

just for the record, I do have multiple accounts, although have asked for them to be merged with this one.
Also, TheElder account did do the same as bubbles (albeit on a smaller scale), and it wasnt banned... and if you want to prove a point then you can, im not using it anymore.

i know DeV and the like have shown opposition to set rules in the past, but as has been pointed out, as boards.ie grows, the problems will too, Im not saying that you were too harsh, right, or too lenient, but some kind of clarification regarding multiple accounts, and YOUR definition of trolling, flaming and most importantly unsolicited PMs would help to curb these campaigns, if the rules are set out then they cant complain when theyre banned for breaking them, at the moment, you cant say that

i didn't get the news letters.sign me up too. i saw it posted in this thread, i think the for sale board minimum 500 post count is a brilliant idea and i hope that goes ahead (espicially now i have over 490 posts)

Its hard to define the line where bubbles ends and Boston begins... we're kinda the one... but different.

But one thing we have learned... and its an old favorite theme of DeVore.... there's safety in numbers online. Very irionic as DeVore preached this before on several past projects, only to have it slapped in the face of the Admins. But its also sad in the way the Admins have become recently what themselves would have despised 2 years go.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Power corrupts. Look at esksor - before he was a nice, down to earth bloke. Look at him now.

It was not a joke - For the record again, my account never seemed to get the 'banned' tag - but I couldn't reply to any thread on any board.

Only the Admins making it look like it was a joke so they look all sweet and innocent. They even have to lie about that. Sure look at Vexorgs post on page one of this thread - where he even said I was banned, for the PM and other reasons?!?! Only then to say it was a joke later on? Nice PR stunt. Pity 90% of the users arn't that stupid.

I feel vaguely honoured to have been part of this, getting the newsletter and all. Too bad it was a joke, it's a pity a good night wasn't actually had by all at the Boards Beers.

But now I don't know what to think. Am I on Bubbles' buddy list? Does he like me? Or was it all random?

Its clear that not all those friens who recieved your pm wanted them so I am suggesting the following for your consideration

Sending a newsletter via pm is not the most efficient way to send this info, in hindsight allowing this will set a precedent so:

Please make sure that only ppl who subscribe to your newsletter get it, I dont want to see any complaints from anyone that they are getting nasty or nice things from you that they dont want. Even one complaint will see this practice shut down. You buddy list only extends to 10 users... so if you find yourself sending the same message to more than say 20 people, please use a more efficient way of sending the info, as they are your friends, they will obviously use your forum so can I suggest you use your forum and or use a mailing list, I do not think that a private message was not designed to distribute information in the same way a post on a forum.

Please make it clear that the views expressed in your newsletter are your own and not those of boards.ie, you must make it clear that your news is not the official news from boards.ie and that you will not create any nuisance to any of the members, mods or admin of boards.ie.

Due to the number of people who actually thought your newsletter was real, as evidenced by people sending proof they were over the age of 18.... the last paragraph is very important, there will obviously be some people who as a result may feel it is unsafe to use the for sale forum.
