    a friend of mine who works for a national newspaper is looking to do a piece on the use of porn diallers and Eircom's Band13

    I need to get hard facts from people on these...

    1. The revenue Eircom earn from Band13 countires. I have heard figures of (i think) 1.5million a week. Does anyone have a source for this?

    2. I have heard that Eircom have a special team to deal with the victoms of Porn Diallers...is there any proof of this??

    Also if anyone can provide links to rulings on the use of Porn Diallers in other countries. I know that the FCC in America have issued advice to customers and that the German government has made it illegal to charge for these diallers unless pervious consent is given, Any links to these. Also details of rates other countrys charge to band 13...

    ALSO, any other information that can be used to give weight to this story...Muck...

    Anyone else who would also be happy to talk about their own experiences in relation to this drop me a line...

    This entire story sounds totally false, however I do know for certain eircom do not have a team who deal with porn dialers.

    Muck claimed that there is a team in Billing...

    I haven't seen anything on this though...

    Didnt he say that there was a team that specifically dealt with customers ringing up complaining about a huge phone bill and where a porn dialler was to blame? the team then try to insinuate that someone was looking at porn.

    And I think porn dialler is a misnomer, because IIRC they just hijack the way you get on the internet, they dont route you to porn sites .... and of course the method of setting this up can be done on ANY website and not just porn sites. I dont surf for porn and I regularly see popups that could possibly/likely do this (do I have an example? nope), just surf away from the big news sites and follow links and you'll soon find some.

    There is customer services who deal with large phone bills IF eircom.net have given you incorrect settings to get online, but if you've downloaded a dialer it is your own dault...
