Just wondered if anyone remembers the way you could select a "golden" number from the mobile operators. I know for sure that Digifone (o2) offered it. Phoned them up a while back wanting to know could I get a specific number and they said no.

I wanted to get an easy to remember number but doesn't seem possible now but yet a lot of radio stations can get numbers that are like their frequency. So it must be possible - presumably it's knowing the contact to allow it to happen?

Any ideas anyone how I could get a "golden" number of my choosing.

Digifone offered this service (for a fee) until the ODTR told them to stop. shame ....

3 offer golden numbers in oz and elsewhwere so maybe they might attempt to do it here.

My brother got an excellent golden number from his bird who works for o2. So the only way to get a golden number might be to become friends with an o2 worker or to go from store to store until you get the number you want.
