I was thinking of renting a car early may when i get some mates over from holland for a few days and was wondering what the conditions are for renting a car?
has anyone done it, is it worth it?
are there conditions like owning a full licence for a certain period previous/current insurance on a different car?
see i'm not insured on my mothers car, to small anyway to drive around 5 grownups, i have my full licence over 6 months now but have never been insured

Not having insurance is not a problem, but afair a full licence for less than a year will be a problem. Also they have age requirements, usually over 25 with the big companies. Worth looking around as some of the smaller ones could have less restrictions.

Most of the bigger companies like hertz and avis wont touch you budget might i found it easiest to get cars from windsor motors in raheny they were pretty cheap too i think there age limit is 21 (sorry had 25 on my mind) most windsors will be the same

I don't think it's possible if you're under 23; a few places have an extra charge for under 25; the range of cars you can rent is limited to fairly small ones; and the amount of time you've had your licence is a problem - looks like you won't have had it for a year by May.

Apart from that, car rental is pretty good value for money compared to ownership if you only drive at weekends; even if you drive every weekend. And if you find a company that has less restrictive terms, let me know - I'm in a similar situation myself. I don't think explaining that the 13 month waiting list for my driving test is the reason I haven't had my licence for a year would work.

Incidentally, does anyone know whether points would be considered an endorsement under those terms? Not that I have any, but it would be helpful to know.

If you do get someone to rent to you I would advise you to strongly consider paying the extra to remove the waiver excess, all you need is some scumbag to key the car or dent it while parking and you can end up with a very big charge

No, unless they specifically ask about points, even then they couldn't verify if you had any.
