If you need to search, use the search button on the top right of the page, enter your text and select a forum from the drop down box. Its quite reliable.

extremely harsh. some threads don't have the same subject title but may contain an identical link to an item. therefore a search is useless. if the poster claims to have searched and doesn't find it, too bad. not everyone scans every thread in humour so i don't see the harm in a few occurences.

if its a blatant repost with a similar subject on the first page (or next few) then just delete the thread ban_happy.

edit: just searched "matrix" under humour and there are 5 occurences (including this one) since july last. not exactly spam levels but i guess it could be merged or maybe thrown in the recycle bin.

The reason I threatened a banning is Im seeing wayyyy too much "thats been posted here before muppet" type replies. We need to be more tolerant of peoples posts as 1: they may be new to boards, and are still learning how things work and 2: not everyone will have seen the previous posts.

Regarding the search function, it works like any major search engine - the more information you give it, the more reliable your results will be

And mods just because you saw it six months ago that doesn't mean it shouldn't be posted again. People generally tend to just look at page 1. Lighten up the harsh rules, jeez.

I think people are misreading what Bio originally said. When i read it first, i too thought he meant if anyone posted something that was here before they'd get a one week ban.

He said if anyone posts "that's been posted before", it's them that will get the ban.
