How should the George be redecorated?

As most of us probably know,the G is closing its doors for a month for renovations.Now,they've already changed a few things i.e the cleaned floors,the frankly odd snake skin furniture and the creepily skin tone painted statues.What big changes would you like to see made?Personally,the tacky tiles and the dodgy porn picutres near the toilets have to go!

Umm it's closing? Where did you hear this? I've heard nothing, seen nothing, and go there pretty regularly. When is this supposed to happen? They're always promising it, so I find it hard to believe.

As to redecoration - well a breaking ball caving in the building would be a start

A few people have said it to me.It may not be a for a full month but all the small bits of redecoration they are doing suggest the place is getting a refurb,however small

I'd most likely think it's all rumour and no substance again.

If they were going to renovate why bother improve the place as it stands. As Ixoy says, it needs a total makeover because it's manky. If anything, I'd see the little touches you mention as meaning there's no renovation coming.

Oh well.

I would love at least one of the Dublin bars to just be a bar - no banging music so loud that you can't hear anything, no 'entertainment', no 'special' nights - just an honest to goodness standard bar, the clientele of which happens to be gay.
Food would be a plus.

The sort of place couples or singles over 35 (yes, there are some still alive!!!!) would enjoy.

The Polo Lounge in Glasgow is my kind of place, though it manages to also cater for the Kylie at a million decibels brigade in a separate section - the best of both worlds.

I think nicely framed photo-realistic computer renderings of brontosaurs, velociraptors, and triceratopses in the Old Bar would be nice.
