After some days using the new Digital Spy boards:

1) Initial impressions: It is horrid

2) The extra stuff makes it too slow on dialup

3) Final impression: It is horrid.


Too "busy", too "slow" too "cluttered", unwanted popup info etc etc.

Too "Tellytubby"

I use the "minimalist" here now and am getting VERY attached to it.

p.s. Even on Broadband I don't like the new Digital Spy.

My laptop is 1600 x 1200 and my Radio Shack PC 1280 x 1024. These are not entry level toy resolutions that should make a web site look cluttered.

I told them this first, and got reply that they are looking at speed issue (the pages are too bloated, that is why it slow), and I can still login there, so I guess they arn't thin skinned!

I tend to agree. It's not so much the clutter that annoys me - it's the fact that options like marking a particular forum as read are now relatively hidden. Let's not go down that road with boards.
