Here's the actual image that you download when you test your connection

    In case you cared

This morning it is very up and down again. Not what we are paying for.So much for 24:1.

Thats why I opted for the cheaper package to start with and will wait and see what happens. There is no extra charge for upgrading to 24:1 but I didn't want to pay €45.00 for an unproven package.

    My Speeds :

376, 397, 370 and 379 so thats an average of about 380 kb.

    Looks ok to me ....

I'm happy ... I'm paying €4 euro per month more than I was last month for 56k dial up !

Cherish this moment of happiness:) It may be short lived the only consistent thing about broadband so far has been its inconsistency. And for God's sake keep the dial up modem:rolleyes:

Checked service on returning from saltmines at 7.00pm.

Speeds again total crap. UTV's speed test tried 3 times no go.

It was also rubbish at 7.00am this morning.

Still no response to emails. Time to throw in the towel.

If there are any Eircom users having these problems, please post. I signed up for the 24:1 from UTV, still paying full whack, which supposedly went live today. I've had the slowest speed ever today. April 1st and all that, eh?

I'm gonna cancel the direct debit and call Eircom. I know the ISP can act the mick when you terminate and try to avail of another service. Has anyone actually done this yet? Were there any hassles?

    I'm downloading a small file (6Mb) from www.ign.com, currently running at a blistering 8.6KB/s.

Is it only UTB/IOL users suffering like this?

    Ping to www.boards.ie averaging 219ms.

What's caused such a significant disimprovement???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

consider yourself lucky... I was downloading a 1.35mb update file a while ago at 1.17kb/sec

    rang support..
me - "what in the name of god is the problem with the dsl at the moment?"
utv - "eh, we have no problems at the moment"

That kinda sums it all up really...

UTV are a disgrace. They are in breach of there contract and all i can say is anyone thinking off getting broadband get Eircom. At least they supply what they say they will.

    I got a massive 182k :(

utv suck thats all i can say

  • Registered Users Posts: 430 ✭✭Aepos

I rang them at 7.30 and so did a couple of other buddies who are unfortunate enough to be UTV customers. They don't seem to have a clue whats going on and dont care either.

I am so utterly Pi**ed off with UTV that my intention now is to dump them at all costs. Hurts me to say this but Eircon seems to be the only way to go ADSL wise.

  • Registered Users Posts: 430 ✭✭Aepos

It's only 5:00pm and the speeds are rubbish again.

No email replies to the many complaints sent and phoned to support re. the poor service during the past week.

    Problems not sorted.

    Loss of connection,
Loss of log on information Name and P/w,
    Proxy/MTU problem,
    Rubbish speeds/pings,
Lack of response from tech support.

Appart from that the service is great.

    Ae
