Shatner pitchs Kirk Enterprise appearance...

    From TrekToday
William Shatner (James T. Kirk) recently revealed he has concocted a premise that would allow him to make a guest appearance on Star Trek: Enterprise.

"I've written a scenario, that I could conceivably come back for a show or two," Shatner told Ben Mulroney, host of Canada's eTalk Daily.

Enterprise executive producer Rick Berman has often said that the show's writers have discussed an appearance by Shatner, but the concept never came to fruition. The actor hasn't yet pitched the premise to Enterprise producers because of the doubts surrounding the show's future.

"I haven't presented it to them yet because I don't know whether they're coming back," he said. "So, you're learning for the first time that I have in my hip pocket a way of bringing the character back and making it logical in science fiction terms, which means it's totally illogical!"

Shatner has been promoting Kelloggs' All-Bran Challenge in Canada, his home country, this month. The two-week challenge is aimed at increasing fibre in the diet by eating half a cup of All-Bran cereal each day.

The Star Trek actor is currently appearing on ABC's The Practice in the recurring role of Denny Crane, the high-flying head of a law firm. When the series ends this May, Shatner is expected to cross over to a new spin-off series which centres around James Spader's character.

If BandB got the show right from the start we wouldn’t have to jump through universe size hoops to explain the **** ups in the timeline

    Could't be any worse than
Shatner Signs On to Star Trek: Enterprise

William Shatner has finalized a deal with Paramount to join the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise in its fourth season.
In a continuation of the Temporal Cold War throughline, Daniels gets confused one day and instead of transporting Captain Archer to a future Starship Enterprise, he brings Captain Kirk backwards in time to the NX-01. Rather than admit his mistake, he just leaves Kirk in the 22nd century, claiming, "I meant to do that." With two captains onboard Enterprise, the inevitable wackiness ensues.

Scott Bakula said he couldn't wait to butt heads with his future counterpart. "We're writing an episode right now where we're forced to share quarters," Bakula said. "He's, like, the messy one and I'm the neat one. There's this bit where he leaves his toothbrush in my holder, and I get all upset with him, then we shake our heads and smile. Oh boy, it's hilarious."

Fans concerned over Star Trek continuity needn't raise their proverbial eyebrow, according to executive producer Brannon Braga. "We looked very closely at the history of Star Trek, studied the Encyclopedia and the Chronology, and we concluded: Hey, do you want Kirk back or what?"

The rest of the Enterprise cast was — shall we say — "beaming" over the prospect of having Shatner in their midst. "Who?" said Anthony Montgomery. "Oh, you mean T.J. Hooker? Sweet!" Dominic Keating was equally enthusiastic. "I hope they write a line for him where he says, 'Make it so.' I love it when he does that."

Shatner said he was looking forward to sharing some interstellar pointers from Captain Kirk to Captain Archer. "Dude's gotta learn how to fight. I mean, seriously — look at him half the time. Worst I ever got was a trickle of blood out the corner of my mouth."

"Also, how to score with the ladies. Definitely."
The above April Fools post on the official ST site reminds me a little too much of the entire plotline of Leah Rewolinski's spoof books (have the first 5 somewhere from many moons ago) to get much of a chortle from me to be honest.

All joking aside, Shatner looks a little old these days to be playing a character that died a few years ago in Generations
