    From the BBC
The US-led coalition in Iraq says an arrest warrant has been issued for radical cleric Moqtada Sadr.

A coalition spokesman told a news conference in Baghdad that the warrant had been issued in connection with the murder of a rival cleric last year.

The statement came on the second day of violent anti-coalition protests across Iraq by Mr Sadr's supporters ...

The violence of the last few days, among the worst since the war ended and the occupation began, happened because Sadr's militant supporters were ticked off that the US had arrested one of his aides. How are they going to feel if their main man is arrested? This could all get even nastier ...

Wonder who theyll sign up for the sequel.

Its kinda of a bad situation to get into. The arrest has obviously led to trouble, would releasing him calm the situation or merely embolden them? And if they coalition tolerate militants and turn a blind eye to politcal assassinations ( the aide arrested was apparently involved in the murder of a shia cleric last year ) then will that make the situation better or just encourage them ?

Its a tough call but the coalition has the responsbility to enforce law and order - if the militants wish to get violent about it then thats their call. Sadr has responded and theres no real option other than to arrest him or else it sends a message that political violence works, which is not in Iraqs interests. Its better perhaps that the coalition take all the rap from the militants for arresting the aide than the Iraqi police ( who would simply have to confront them later if they develop a taste for murdering their politcal rivals ) - its not like the militants love them anyway so no real loss.
