Ordered Digiweb DSL today. I've got a PC and a laptop and want to share the connection wirelessly. I don't reallyhave much of a clue how to do this. I assume that the DSL modem has to have an Ethernet port - does the Digiweb one have one Allepally? If so what other equipment would I need to allow me to surf wirelessly? I know this may have been covered elsewhere but as far as I can see not from an absolutely newbie point of view!

    Hey digital.

The box I got with the Homejet account from Digiweb is a Zyxel Prestige 623R Dual Link Router. There's basically 3 connectors on the back.

    1. DSL connector
    2. Ethernet port
    3. USB Port

At the moment I'm connecting to the Zyxel via USB as I don't have a network card but I've ordered some kit from microaid to wire up another pc in the house and am going to run wireless to one pc and utp cable to the other pc.

The best thing I found for deciding what you need is to run the wizard at the following address

    http://web.belkin.com/config/network2/index0.asp

Just go through it step by step. Makes more sense than anything I've seen on the net so far. It will come back and tell you all the kit you need but obviously you don't have to buy the Belkin stuff, but use the wizard as it shows everything visually. When it asks you about the modem you will use, just say you will use existing modem (this is the Zyxel as I've described). It will also ask you which type of port is on the back of the modem you will use - just select ethernet.

I'll see how I get on when I try wiring it all up tomorrow or Friday and will let you know if it all works out.

I was thinking of getting one of these http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECS07337&productID=49769 and also this http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECS10742&productID=49610.

I presume I could just hook the router up to my dsl modem (connected to PC via USB) with an ethernet cable. I assume the laptop will have wireless net access even with the PC turned off?

That's the same router I ordered. Yes, that's how I understand it

Did you find the wizard thing on Belkin site helpful?

Wizard was alright yeah. I might wait to see how you get on with the above gear before ordering.

Just had a look at the microaid site shipping is cheaper - any previous purchases from them?

Yep, I've bought loads there. Last purchase was a USB Bluetooth dongle a few weeks ago. I ordered the networking kit from them yesterday.

might be getting it wrong, but i think that's what happened. if someone could confirm or deny whether this is true or not though, that would be grand. can't be arsed at the minute tho coz 24's on, and Jack's in the sh1t again:D

have a look at diet kazaa, it uses kazaas engine but strips it down, and removes the spyware

I tried that winmx.Seems to work ok but tbh I'm not really comfortable with these type of apps and didn't spend a long time with it but it allowed me to search the network etc. I'm downloading the free version of kaaza now.

If you pm me with your email address I'll email it to you. As far as I remember it's only about 3meg and I doubt you'll be able to download it anywhere now.
