    THE ZUTONS
    Special Guests, REPUBLIC OF LOOSE
@ The Village, Wexford St, Dublin 2.
    Wednesday, April 21st ‘04

The Zutons are also playing The Limelight, Belfast on Thursday, April 22nd ’04.

Following their debut Irish appearance warming up for The Thrills at their now legendary Temple Bar Music Centre gig, THE ZUTONS play their long-awaited Irish headline show at The Village on Wednesday, April 21st at The Village in Dublin.

Special Guests for the show are Meteor Award Winners for Hope for 2004, the fantastic REPUBLIC OF LOOSE.

Currently starring on the NME Britpack Tour with Delays, The 22-20s The Ordinary Boys, Thirteen Senses, and The Cribs, The Zutons will be unleashing tracks from their already-acclaimed debut album, ‘Who Killed The Zutons’.

‘Who Killed The Zutons’ is released on Friday week, April 16th and includes the new single, ‘You Will You Won’t’ (released last Friday) and the brilliant Top 20 hit, ‘Pressure Point’.

There must be something sinister in the Liverpool water that's encouraging this new-found fascination with frontier sounds, given that the music currently flowing from its youth owes more to the Mexican Mariachi than Merseybeat. Right at the heart of all these happenings is the Deltasonic label – home to The Coral, The Zutons, The Dead 60’s and The Basement.

“With a slight eccentric bent, they're aiming to fulfill the scallydelic pop promise of the great La's, who fell apart before delivering. Only the Zutons are a bit crazier, as they sing songs of space travel and off-the-cuff weirdness. There may be hints of pre-Trout Mask Replica Beefheart discernible here but, as with the Captain, there is method to the madness. The band's tight, hard-riffing and wilfully eccentric, twisting guitar-driven songs still sit tightly within the confines of great guitar pop perfection. Life affirming melodies and spit-roast riffing make this a great debut” – The Observer.

“The Zutons are leaving behind their peers, rocketing into a solar system of their own” - NME.

    Don’t miss.

Tickets €15 (inc booking fee) are on sale now from Road Records, Soundcellar, Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
