    Hi Lads

I am buying my 1st car soon (in a week or so) I have 3500 yoyos to spend. I have decided that I am getting a Micra insurance is only 1200 Im 27 Male so this is quite good.
I need help in buying the car I have'nt a clue about cars, would I be better off in this case buying from a garage or the buy and sell. When you go to look at a car is it normal to bring a mechanic with you or can you ask the guy to bring the car out to you so you can get your mechanic to look at it.
Any help guys would be appreciated

If possible you should buy from a dealer - the reason being that you can get a warranty from them (I believe Nissan dealers offer up to 1 year warranty on used cars)

If you buy privately you will get a better deal - but there is always more of a risk with it.

No matter what choice you make you should get a mechanic to look over the car before you purchase especially if you do not know much about motors.

If it is a private sale you can arrange with the seller for you to visit them or for them to visit you - you can even get them to visit your mechanic!

I recently changed car and here are some of the general car sites I found useful:

Your €3.5k will get you a nice '97 1.0 liter with low enough mileage from a second hand car dealer, probably with a 3 month warranty. Cars of these age are generally not for sale through the Nissan dealer anymore

I can recommend the Micra - great car if you want a 1.0l car and the budget is like yours :)

Check above links. Don't be too hung up about it being a '96 or '97. Low enough mileage is 40-60k imo
