I was playing Far Cry multiplayer and all of the sudden, I am asked for my CD-Key. It says my CD-Key is being used. I tried inputting my CD-Key again but it keeps saying that it is in use. My Far-Cry copy is original.
Is there a way I can stop this from happening?

Go back to the shop where you bought it with receipt in hand.

Make a big scene about how you bought a copy here and someone is using your cd key.

Blame the staff, tell them you want to see the manager.

Tell him you think someone there stole the cd key and either gave it to someone else or is using it.

Tell him you want a new copy.

    Accept new copy...

    be happy.

Very doubtful that you will get a new copy, most games are sold sealed. if the key is being used is it probably from a Key generator. they could say that the cd-key could have been seen (used) by anyone who has been in you house.

try though, they will probably be nice about it.

    Good luck.

On a side note, where is the cd key on Far Cry. I wasn't asked for it when installing, and on the back of the manual where cd keys are usually printed is a big white blank space???

I think its from a key generator as well. I got in back the game after that but whats stopping this from happening again. Even if I go to the shop and demand another copy, which I'll probably do, there's no gurantee that it wont happen again. And thats the problem.

talla: You're right, the CD key is at the back of the manual in the white box.

arnt the chances of a key gen generating a legit key very slim?

I suppose so and I'm probably really unlucky. I bough the game shrink wrap and no one else have seen my cd-key. So the possible explanation is:

    1. Key-generator
    2. The cd-key was copied before it was shrink wrap. Maybe someone returned it PC-World and they re-wrap it again and sell it off. Who knows.

I often wondered if shops re-wrap games...

if you can play now, it was probally just a glitch in the system, that used to happed all the time with steam

or... someone could have a key-logger on ur pc

If that fails try to contact crytech directly and tell them about your problem.

chances are it wouldn't create a legit cdkey for online play.
and why the **** would you want to, if you've just spent €40+ on a game?

Because clothes wont ask you to input a key before you put them on?

Your best bet would be to contact Far Cry tech support. I know from Battlefield that all you need to do is contact EA with proff that you own the CD's [usually they want a pic of the CD's] and they will send you out a new CD Key. I assume it would be similar with other game retailers.

I'll probably try that Winters. Seems to be the best option. No point I go all the way to Blanchardstown and have this happening again.

It happened to me again just now but only for about 1 minute.

Whats strange is that I was playing when I got booted out from the game because my cd-key was supposed to be invalid. Even if somebody was using a key-gen, wouldnt that person not able to log in? Why was I booted out and then I cant get it. I just find that really strange.
