    Shite.

    Looks like a real watered down EA game, like what they did to C&C.

    Commercialised is the only word I can think of.

    A console kiddie would be (slowly) turning to the direction of the shot, when another one would hit him, and kill him.
    Also, by the time the PS comes out, its graphics HW will be at least 4 months old.

    Dont the DC guys work for Dice now?

    Still, while looking decent for the PS2, you can really see the signature "muddy textures" of the machine. It saddens me that more players will play this and asscociate this "port" with the brand "Battlefield" than with the original PC games..

    Just like Baldurs Gate: DA. :mad:

    Oh dear god, that looks ****e - the models are low poly, half of them dont seem to have any shadows, and only 24 players?? When BF:V support 64? I know the PS2 never came net ready, but stilll...

    And yes, Trauma are behind the work.

    I doubt the trauma boys are behind a PS2 version. They are probably working on the PC version of the game. I know this will be PS2 for the moment but it will also br PC by next year or so. Pity EA havent sorted out their XBox Live arguement as if the game was to be developed for XBox it would look a lot better. PS2 engine just isint up to Battlefield standards :)

    Also, Official announcement from EA on the Battlefield Website:
    EA AND DIGITAL ILLUSIONS ANNOUNCE DEVELOPMENT OF BATTLEFIELD: MODERN COMBAT FOR THE PLAYSTATION® 2

    Award-winning Battlefield Franchise Comes to Console for the First Time

Electronic Arts announced today that the award-winning Battlefield franchise is coming to console for the first time with Battlefield: Modern Combat for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment America. The title, which is currently under development for a planned fall 2004 debut, will be published and distributed by EA under the EA GAMES™ brand.

    The first-ever Battlefield console installment will drop players into the heat of battle on the high tech frontlines, entering a new modern era of combat with more firepower and new expansive environments. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of over 30 vehicles, including tanks, helicopters and fast attack vehicles, to engage in major conflicts with up to 24 players in some of the largest online battles on the PlayStation 2 console. Well its finally happening, EA have got their sites set onto consoles! More specifically the X-Box and its internet capabilities are their target for Battlefield:Modern Combat

    This will be bringing the joys of battlefield to those that are not wise to the elegance of a keyboard and mouse...

    Here is what some insiders had to say regarding this new venture

    A former employee of EA said

    "EA is going to bring its games to Live this year. It's finally happening."

    Wall street UBS commented that;

    "We do expect that to change this year, with Battlefield 1942 for Xbox expected to have Xbox Live capability,"

    Banc of America Securities, another Wall Street heavy weight said;

    "The popularity of Xbox Live, which is likely to be supported by Electronic Arts for the first time in 2004, also contributes to our confidence in strong Xbox hardware sales this year,"

    However there may be a slight sourness to this tale, Microsoft wishes to control and create revenue through their exclusive servers for their Live games, however EA are more at home with their games being run on several independent servers!

    Hopefully this will come to fruition in the autumn, we will just have sit out the storm and wait and see if anything comes of these corporate behemoths and their grand ambitions on this front.

    I dislike the way that it show's how much health the choppers have left. I prefer not knowing, unless your in it, as it defeats the realism.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 590 ✭✭✭regeneration

    Huh? No it doesn't, it shows the pilot's name and their "rank" by the looks of things - those strips are ranks, not health :D
    Either way, Im glad I dont own a PS2 - I'd be embarressed by those shots ;) Roll on BF2 please :)
