Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With only 4-5 matches left for the teams in the Premiership who do you think will grab 5th and 6th spot for an UEFA spot?
Personally I think it'll be Liverpool and Aston Villa for 5th and 6th, with Newcastle grabbing a Champions League spot. Sadly I don't think Fulham (and me being a Fulham fan) will make 5th or 6th, much too far from them now :dunno:

The game currently being played will go a long towards the final positions. (Villa - Newcastle).

Newcastle look odds-on to get the 4th spot now, 5th and 6th will be shared between Liverpool and either Villa or Charlton.

Liverpool to finish 4th, newcastle 5th and Villa 6th. Villa have been the surprise package of the season i think.i thought they would be in the relegation dogfight.

    Liverpool:
ManU (a) - They usually play well at OT but United are fighting it out for 2nd place to avoid having to qualify for the CL next year, its a tough one for the Pool.

Middlesbrough (h) - The should win this but thats not saying much

Birmingham (a) - Again Birmingham will be really up for this and I can see them winning.

    Newcastle (h) - :dunno: verdict - draw.

    Birmingham:
    Wolves (h) - Should win.

    Arsenal (a) - no chance.

Liverpool (h) - as I said above I think Birmingham will scrape it. Big 6 pointer.

Blackburn (a) - Blackburn will more than likely have nothing to play for.

    Villa:
    Middlesbrough (a)
    Spurs (h)
    Soton (a)
    ManU (h)

Actually Pool may get ahead of Villa but I'd say Birmingham will get 5th.

Its going to be close. You would think that there is a competition not to finish fourth. Everyone this season but Arsenal have played below par, even United and Chelsea.

    1: Arse
    2: Chelsea
    3: Man U

4: Newcastle (Seem to be coming back to form)
5: Liverpool (The point against fulham may be decisive)
    6: Villa

That should be European spot, only 5th place qualifies for the Waffa Cup. I'm not too hopefull about Villa's chances after today's lackluster performance.

    From www.uefa.com

With League Cup winners Middlesbrough FC and the FA Cup finalists guaranteed to take two of the three UEFA Cup spots on offer, only the Premiership's fifth-placed side will qualify - and the race for that and the fourth UEFA Champions League berth is gathering pace.

What about Charlton - The are the only team that have it in their own hands - i.e. if they win all their games the can't be caught for 5th?

    I think it will Finish

    4 Newcastle
    5 Charlton
    6 Liverpool
    7 Aston Villa
    8 Birmingham

4th - Newcastle (seem to be a bit more consistent than LFC:rolleyes: )
    5th - LFC
    6th - Villa

Its really too close to call. All of these teams have been mis-firing
all season long and dropping points in games that they really
shouldn't. None of them deserve to really get a 4th CL spot
and even the team that does may be out quickly (as what
happened to Newcastle this season). The club with the most
to lose by not getting 4th spot is Liverpool. They barely missed
out last sason against Chelsea (it went down to the last match)
and its set-up for doing the same again this year, Again, Liverpool
may have too much to do in the last match and they are a team
that cannot handle pressure - just look at Owen and Gerard when
    taking penalties.

In terms of 5th and 6th, this is of course a big bonus for the
likes of Charlton, Villa or Birmingham but for Newcastle and
Liverpool its a case of the wooden spoon. Its a better race
than at the top of the table, but much lower in quality.

The also have the most to gain if GH is sacked.

So, only 5th place will get a UEFA place, I thought it was usually 5th and 6th, and one from each of the cups...But according to Davey Devil I have been living the season under a rock!

Well, that makes it even more interesting so.

If The Toon win the UEFA what do they qualify for?...I heard that the UEFA Cup Winers get a Champo's League spot, any truth in that?

I think Newcastle will finish 4th, with Villa in 5th.

If Newcastle win the UEFA Cup they'll be in the CL if they finish 4th in the Prem, and UEFA Cup if they finish 5th (with 6th also getting into UEFA in that case). If they win it and are 6th or lower they go into the UEFA but the team below them won't.
